For the past two years I have performed in the Syd Riggs Foundation benefit concert, Why We Tell the Story. This year it was my turn to apply for the scholarship! In early May I completed the application and was excited to be invited to perform and interview as a finalist.
Last night I found out that I was selected as a 2015 Syd Riggs Foundation Scholarship recipient! I am very honored and appreciative to receive this scholarship that was created to support performers developing their talents.
Scholarship coordinator, Allison Terry, included the most encouraging letter. In part she said:
It is not enough to have talent; a successful person must also be persistent, consistent, and optimistic. As a student, you have demonstrated these qualities and I hope you will continue to do so throughout your life.
Words to live by! This scholarship will definitely help with my studies and be put to good use right away.
