After attending BYU last summer, I took the year off to film and perform. Next fall, I'll be back!
Last fall I submitted vocal, dance, and monologue videos to BYU's Music Dance Theatre (MDT) BFA program. I was invited to callbacks (a nice Christmas gift!) and spent nearly 10 hours on January 30th singing, dancing, and acting for the committee with dozens of other hopeful musical theater performers.
It was both exhilarating and exhausting and I was definitely ready for a pint of well-deserved Ben & Jerry's The Tonight Dough ice cream afterward!
While filming last Saturday a large envelope arrived in the mail. My mother and sister nearly had dual coronaries waiting for me to get home to open it. (My dad, as usual, was cool as a cucumber.) When I finally opened it, I got the best news ever. I was one of only 18 new students admitted to the MDT BFA program. It came with more great news: some of the lower level dance classes have been waived and I'm starting at more advanced levels. (Thanks to Utah COPA and PHS for the great training!)
Today I drove to the MDT office in person to turn in my acceptance package!
It is such an honor to join my incredible singing sister, Alana, in this amazing program. The instruction and associations will be invaluable in my future career. Thank you to the committee! So many exclamation points today! I couldn't be happier!
